Artifact (Early)-Teach-a-Lesson Activity for EDET 603

Standard 2 - Teach a Lesson

  • Context
    This was a Teach-a-Lesson Activity for EDET 603, Design & Development Tools I.
  • Conditions
    The screen cast was recorded using screen capture software and uploaded to YouTube.
  • Scope
    Recording a screen cast was one of the most challenging events and adding narration made things more complicated. The use of Wordle was also a relatively new concept for me.
  • Role
    I was the sole creator of this project.
  • Performance Indicator
    • Creating-Candidates apply content pedagogy to create appropriate applications of processes and technologies to improve learning and performance outcomes. The Teach A Lesson assignment was used to teach about a tool and this was accomplished using other technology (a screen recorder).
    • Using-Candidates implement appropriate educational technologies and processes based on appropriate content pedagogy. The finished project used a screen recording tool to deliver an online learning module.
    • Managing-Candidates manage appropriate technological processes and resources to provide supportive learning communities, create flexible and diverse learning environments, and develop and demonstrate appropriate content pedagogy. Managing occurred since using the screen casting tool, uploading the content to YouTube and embedding it into the Wiki.
  • ADDIE
    Documentation of the ADDIE process was not required for this project; however, most of the ADDIE process took place. The analysis phase started with identifying a topic and what needed to be accomplished. An outline was created in the design stage, the project was designed, and it was implemented on the wiki.

Artifact (Mastery)-Staff Development Program for EDET 746

Online Ipad Training Staff Development

    • Context
      The Staff Development Program was a group project for EDET 746, Management of Technology Resources. The learning module was implemented in a real life scenario to local elementary school teachers. The deliverable for the project was an online training resource with a pre and post assessment.
    • Conditions
      The site used WordPress so multiple group members could work on the content at one time.
    • Scope
      The site was implemented as an introduction of how iPads could be used in the classroom. While many of the learners had used iPads it is not always easy to know how to effectively use them in the classroom especially when you have not had training in this type of environment before.
    • Role
      My role in the project was implementing and setting up the WordPress installation and creating the evaluation.
    • Performance Indicator
      • Creating-Candidates apply content pedagogy to create appropriate applications of processes and technologies to improve learning and performance outcomes. This module required the team members to work together to find the best solution that would effectively allow their target audience to receive the training. The end result was a WordPress site with embedded videos.
      • Using-Candidates implement appropriate educational technologies and processes based on appropriate content pedagogy. Since WordPress and recorded videos were used for the project it was essential that proper educational technologies and processes were used.
      • Assessing/Evaluating-Candidates demonstrate an inquiry process that assess the adequacy of learning and evaluates the instruction and implementation of educational technologies grounded in reflective practice. There was a pre and post assessment for the module to evaluate their performance and the effectiveness of the training.
      • Managing-Candidates manage appropriate technological processes and resources to provide supportive learning communities, create flexible and diverse learning environments, and develop and demonstrate appropriate content pedagogy. While this module was directed with a facilitator, individuals were able to complete the assignments on their own time and at their own pace.
      • Ethics-Candidates design and select media, technology, and processes that emphasize the diversity of our society as a multicultural community. For this project we realized there were a multitude of users that could use the site for training. We used basic language and ensured the site would display correctly on mobile devices.
    • ADDIE
      While documentation of the ADDIE process is not shown on the website, the project went through the ADDIE process from Analyze to Evaluate. The project started out with selecting a topic and analyzing the project which was evaluating our learner. We then decided to design the project by creating a basic storyboard and then a WordPress site was implemented and everyone added the content. Implementation took place with a small test group and the learners completed the post evaluation.
