Artifact (Early)-Community of Practice Evaluation for EDET 650

  • Context
This was an artifact created for EDET 650, Internship in Educational Technology. My internship was at the Office of Public Health Practice’s South Carolina Public Health Training Center. This project evaluated their existing community of practice and provided feedback.
  • Conditions
The main drawback of this project is that I did not know what an Online Community of Practice was. There was an extensive amount of research learning more about Communities of Practices and then evaluating them based on others recommendations of how they improved their own.
  • Scope
The project was reviewed by the coordinator of the SC Public Health Training Center and she presented the work to the director of the guiding office.
  • Role
I was the sole author of this paper.
  • Performance Indicator
    • Creating-Candidates create instructional design products based on learning principles and research-based best practices. During the creation of this process I used basic ISD principles to create the document.
    • Using-Candidates make professionally sound decisions in selecting appropriate processes and resources to provide optimal conditions for learning based on principles, theories, and effective practices. Since the document would be e-mailed around I used Microsoft Word to send the document that way it was easily accessible by the target audience.
    • Assessing/Evaluating-Candidates use multiple assessment strategies to collect data for informing decisions to improve instructional practice, learner outcomes, and the learning environment. I had to evaluate other communities of practice as well as talk to other public health practitioners to learn about what is needed to improve the Community of Practice.
  • ADDIE
The Analysis Phase of the ADDIE process was crucial in this project.

    • Role
I was the sole creator of this project.
    • Performance Indicator
