Standard 5 – Research

Candidates explore, evaluate, synthesize , and apply methods of inquiry to enhance learning and improve performance.

Artifact (Early)-ADDIE Report for EDET 703

  • Context
The ADDIE report was used for EDET 703, Design and Development Tools II, as a mini research project to further investigate the ADDIE model. This paper was essential in my knowledge and the basis of the Educational Technology program.
  • Conditions
The paper provided a good foundation about the ADDIE process since my knowledge on the subject matter at the time was limited.
  • Scope
The paper was extremely time consuming and required a fair amount of research to complete.
  • Role
I was the sole creator of this project.
  • Performance Indicator
    • Theoretical Foundations-Candidates demonstrate foundational knowledge of the contribution of research to the past and current theory of educational communications and technology. This paper helped me further my foundational knowledge on the ADDIE model.
  • ADDIE
The paper reviewed all the phases of the ADDIE model.

Artifact (Mastery)-Group Research Project for EDET 780

  • Context
The group research project for EDET 780, Research Seminar in Educational Technology, was based off of learning with e-textbooks.
  • Conditions
The research helped us learn more and get a basic understanding of how e-textbooks impacts learning.
  • Scope
The toughest part about this project was the group collaboration in a group environment. All of the group members had other things going on but in the end we found out that using Google Documents to collaborate was the best way to go.
  • Role
This was a group project which there was an equal share of responsibilities.
  • Performance Indicator
    • Method-Candidates apply research methodologies to solve problems and enhance practice. The group had to identify the best way to research the topic in order to get the best data.
    • Assessing/Evaluating-Candidates apply formal inquiry strategies in assessing and evaluating processes and resources for learning and performance. This project required all the group members to access educational resources and methodologies on how to create a survey for the report.
    • Ethics-Candidates conduct research and practice using accepted professional and institutional guidelines and procedures. The project includes a list of references of resources that were used.
  • ADDIE
This report focused on the Analysis phase of the ADDIE model; however, additional phases can be seen like the evaluation phase since surveys were included.
